Plan a 7-day Nepal tour with a local Kathmandu team — Golden Triangle, pilgrimage, or short-trek routes. See what fits in a week and what doesn't, then customize your own itinerary.

A 7-day Nepal tour is enough time to see two or three of the country's core destinations properly, but not enough to do everything — which means the right route depends on what you actually want out of the week. Most operators sell one fixed itinerary as "the" 7-day Nepal trip. We think that's the wrong starting point: below are several genuinely different 7-day routes, built around different priorities, so you pick the one that matches yours rather than adjusting your interests to fit someone else's template.
The classic, most-booked route: heritage sites, lakeside mountain views, and a jungle safari. Best if you want a genuine cross-section of Nepal without a strong pull toward any one theme.
Skips Chitwan in favor of real depth in Kathmandu's UNESCO sites (all three Durbar Squares, not just one) and a slower Pokhara stay. Best if wildlife safari doesn't interest you and you'd rather go deeper on fewer places.
Adds Buddha's birthplace at Lumbini in place of Chitwan. Best for travelers with a genuine interest in Buddhist and Hindu pilgrimage sites alongside the standard sightseeing.
Swaps Chitwan for a 3–4 day teahouse trek to Ghorepani and Poon Hill, Nepal's most accessible short trek with a genuine Annapurna sunrise view. Best if you want to actually walk in the Himalayas, not just view them from a vehicle.
Trip Facts:
Heritage sightseeing in Kathmandu, lakeside mountain views in Pokhara, and a jungle safari in Chitwan — the most complete cross-section of Nepal that genuinely fits in a week. Below is the full day-by-day plan — every detail is adjustable, including switching to one of the alternate routes above.
7 Days / 6 Nights | From $XXX
All three Kathmandu Valley UNESCO Durbar Squares (Kathmandu, Patan, Bhaktapur) properly, plus an unhurried 3–4 day Pokhara stay including Begnas Lake as an alternative to the busier Phewa Lake circuit.

Kathmandu sightseeing, then a 4-day Ghorepani–Poon Hill teahouse trek from Pokhara — genuinely walking in the Annapurna foothills rather than viewing them from a road.
View Full Itinerary →Two to three core destinations (Kathmandu plus Pokhara and/or Chitwan or Lumbini), with real time at each rather than a rushed one-night stop. A short trek like Ghorepani–Poon Hill also fits well within a 7-day frame.
A full Everest Base Camp trek (12–14 days) or Annapurna Circuit (10–14 days) genuinely doesn't fit inside a 7-day trip alongside anything else — attempting to compress one in usually means cutting the trek short or skipping it entirely once you see the real day count. If a major trek is the priority, it's worth planning as its own trip rather than squeezing it into a week that's also trying to cover Kathmandu and Pokhara.
Routes using domestic flights between every leg (Kathmandu–Pokhara–Chitwan–Kathmandu) save real time versus driving, but add cost and remove the scenic road stops (Manakamana, Bandipur) that a road-based version would include. Worth deciding deliberately rather than defaulting to whichever an operator finds easiest to book.
September–November and March–May offer the clearest mountain views for Sarangkot sunrise, Nagarkot, and general sightseeing. Winter (December–February) works for Kathmandu and Chitwan-focused routes; monsoon (June–August) is workable for cultural sightseeing but reduces mountain visibility and makes trekking routes less appealing.
If you're unsure, the Golden Triangle is the safest default — it's the most complete single-week cross-section of Nepal. Lean toward the Culture route if heritage architecture specifically interests you, the Pilgrimage route if religious sites matter to your trip, or the Short Trek route if you want to genuinely walk in the mountains rather than just see them.
"Appreciated being shown actual different route options instead of just one fixed 'week in Nepal' itinerary — we went with the pilgrimage version since Lumbini mattered to us more than a jungle safari."
— Elena Rostova, Germany · Pilgrimage Route
"They told us straight up that Everest Base Camp wouldn't fit in a week alongside anything else, instead of trying to sell us a rushed version. Did the Poon Hill route instead and it was the right call."
— James Thornton, United States · Short Trek Route
It depends on your priorities. The Golden Triangle (Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan) is the most complete general cross-section. Culture-focused, pilgrimage-focused, and short-trek variants are all genuinely better fits for specific interests — see the route breakdown above.
No — a full Everest Base Camp trek takes 12–14 days on its own. A 7-day trip can include a short trek like Ghorepani–Poon Hill, or a mountain flight for aerial Everest views without the multi-day trek.
Flying saves real time (25 minutes vs. 6–7 hours for Kathmandu–Pokhara) but costs more and skips scenic road stops like Manakamana or Bandipur. Both are valid depending on whether you'd rather maximize time at each destination or enjoy the journey between them.
Enough for two to three core destinations properly. It's not enough for a major trek alongside sightseeing, or for covering more than 3 regions without feeling rushed.
Yes — every route above is a starting point. Swap destinations, adjust the pace, or combine elements from different routes to build your own version.
